Parent Story: Hilary Francis

EOCF Has Done so Much For our Family!

by Hilary Francis

I am the grandmother of Harrison, now 5 1/2, and Ashlyn, now 4. Four years ago both children were placed into my care by Child Protective Services. They began in EOCF’s Head Start Home-Based early learning program. The teachers came into our home once weekly for 90 minutes. Starting there, I learned how to manage the children appropriately, teach and parent them better. When Harrison turned 3, he was seamlessly transferred to a Head Start classroom. He adapted to his class and teachers easily and loved going every day. Harrison started Kindergarten this year and is doing exceedingly well.

“I owe Harrison’s success to the early childhood education that he received at EOCF.”

Ashlyn is still in a Head Start classroom and I am starting to see the benefits of having her in a wonderfully planned and executed environment of learning not only academics, but also being a well-balanced individual. There was a time when I was not able to get glasses for Ashlyn, and my EOCF Family  Advocate helped me find resources to provide her prescription and frames. EOCF also feeds the children and their families nutritious meals.  My grandchildren will grow into healthy adults due to this opportunity they have been given. I will forever be in EOCF’s debt for what they brought to our lives.

“What a wonderful agency this is!”

NOTE: EOCF is grateful that Hilary has ‘paid it forward’ by faithfully serving on EOCF’s Parent Policy Council, one of our two governing boards, and as Policy Council Representative to our Board of Directors.
