Read through an interview with Yvette to learn how her family’s life has changed thanks to EOCF’s preschool programs and family support services.
” EOCF has helped my children get ready and be better prepared for school…The staff having family events really helps us feel more like a part of a family and connected to the community.”
Yvette G., Program Parent
How has EOCF prepared your children for their next steps?
EOCF has helped my children get ready and be better prepared for school. My daughter Angela is on an IEP for speech, and her teacher Ian sat in on her IEP meeting. It really helped that they took the time to be a part of this process to support her goals. My other child, Kylie, has had trouble with transitioning. The staff worked together with me to find different ways to help her feel safe and heard whenever she had any trouble.
What hurdles have your children overcome while attending EOCF? How has your family grown since working with EOCF?
With my oldest child being autistic and now 16, I have seen how important early intervention is and the impact it can make. When both my girls started, they were both in diapers, and with the school’s help, they were fully potty trained by the end of the year. They are now recognizing letters and their names. When I had my youngest daughter right at the beginning of the pandemic, we didn’t get out much during her first two years, and she needed help socially. This support helped prepare her for school this year by boosting her confidence.
How has your involvement in family events supported you and your family?
The staff having family events really helps us feel more like a part of a family and connected to the community.
