“If there were no program like Head Start or ECEAP available my family likely would have had to stay in the cycle of abuse and be left in the same cycle of mental unease.”
Alexus Oropeza, Program Parent

Where are you from?

I’m from Southern California and currently living in Vancouver WA.

How are you associated with EOCF?

My twin boys are enrolled currently with EOCF.

How much time have you spent in Head Start?

In total a year and 2 months.

How has EOCF changed your family’s life?

Head Start and ECEAP with EOCF has specifically changed my children’s lives with giving them the consistency they so much needed. Me and my children left a very domestically violent household where I thought that was the only option, and after leaving my abuser my family was able to find more consistency in our lives with the program than we ever had previously. Enrolling in the program has ultimately given my children a new foundation for their lives they can count on. The EOCF program works amazingly with Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s), as my two children are also in special education.

If there were no programs like Head Start…

If there were no program like Head Start or ECEAP available my family likely would have had to stay in the cycle of abuse and be left in the same cycle of mental unease. They too would be more likely to recreate the abusive patterns they used to be around every day. With EOCF they’re learning to care and love for their classmates, and able to learn school routines early to set them up for future success after the struggles they’ve already had to face.
